About OnCourse

OnCourse is the authorized student academic success platform used by students, faculty, and staff at The Ohio State University. Through this platform students can communicate and schedule appointments with their advisor, as well as review their advising notes and class information.

The overall goal in using the OnCourse platform is to increase graduation and retention rates, reduce time-to-degree, provide targeted outreach to students, and increase coordinated efforts between campus partners to better support students. For information on platform utilization, please see our Archive.

Advisors and other staff are able to record notes, set appointment availability, conduct student focused campaigns, and monitor the progress their students are making. Faculty are able to view their courses and rosters, issue alerts for students, and complete Progress Reports.

May 2021 Updates

New Student Facing Scheduler:

On Monday, May 3, the new student facing scheduler was launched in the production site. (If you DO NOT have students self-schedule with you, this change will not affect you). For Advisors, we have a list of new services that students can see in the scheduler. The previous advising services will not appear for students in the scheduler, therefore you will need to use the new list of services when setting up your availability.

New Dashboard Feature for Staff:

Staff with assigned students, staff who have scheduled appointments, and/or staff who use appointment campaigns will notice a new dashboard feature on your homepage. The dashboard will feature four tiles: 1. My Assigned Students 2. My Assigned Students Activity 3. My Appointment Summaries and 4. My Appointment Campaigns. These tiles will show summaries and charts based on your OnCourse data.

May 2021 Updates

OnCourse is The Ohio State University's version of a third-party platform that was developed by the Education Advisory Board (EAB). EAB and other institutions refer to the platform as Navigate which is why communications and Outlook appointments generated through the platform carry the Navigate logo.
